El peligro de hambruna en el país más joven del mundo

La guerra civil en la que está sumido Sudán del Sur podría llevar a que su población sufra una hambruna.   El país más joven del mundo, Sudan del Sur, vive en  medio de una guerra civil que ha llevado al corte de líneas de abastecimientos y  desplazado a parte de su población.
Ahora puede enfrentar una hambruna mayor que la que se vivió en Etiopia en los 80, según advierten organismos internacionales.
Según los especialistas, los problemas del país son complejos y tienen múltiples facetas. Sin embargo, el factor principal de la crisis es la fuerte ola de violencia tribal que comenzó a mediados de diciembre de 2013 y que prácticamente ha detenido la producción agrícola y ha desplazado de sus tierras a 800.000 personas.   1. On page 95 of the Engage, in our course on non-violence, we learned about Compassion. Compassion means,“a mind that removes the suffering that is present in the other” (95). Also, compassion is the ability to understand and recognize “the physical, and psychological suffering of others, to put ourselves “inside the skin” of the other” (95). What happen in South Sudan is a truly painful to news to hear. The children and the people in South Sudan are in danger of hunger because they’re running out of food supplies. Right now, we’re extremely lucky living in this country. We live in such a better life. We’re often forgotten about others that are suffering. We need to be more compassionate to others, and to be able to do something about it because we‘re all live on the same planet.
